RESUMEN

The purpose of this article was to review and assess the results obtained from human studies on the effects of hydrotherapy, balneotherapy, and spa therapy on sleep disorders. In this study, databases such as Pubmed, Embase, Web of Science, Google Scholar, Cochrane, Scopus, and sciences direct database were searched from the beginning to September 2022. All human studies that examined the effect of hydrotherapy, balneotherapy, and spa therapy on sleep disorders were published in the form of a full article in English. In the end, only 18 of the 189 articles met the criteria for analysis. Most studies have shown that balneotherapy, spa therapy, and hydrotherapy may by affecting some hormones such as histamine, serotonin, sympathetic nerves, and regulating body temperature led to increased quality and quantity of sleep. Also, the results obtained from Downs and Black show that 3 studies were rated as very good, 7 studies as good, 7 studies as fair, and 1 study as weak. The results of studies also showed that hydrotherapy leads to an improvement in the PSQI score index. Nevertheless, more clinical trials are needed to determine the mechanism of action of hydrotherapy on sleep disorders.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the and studies of natural compounds and medicinal plants with anti-coronavirus activity. METHODS: A systematic review was performed based on Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses and Animal Research: Reporting of experiments guidelines to find data for medicinal plants and natural products effective against human coronaviruses in or studies. Studies published up to September 6, 2020 were included. Studies ( or ) reporting the effect of medicinal plants and natural products or their derivatives on human coronavirus were included RESULTS: Promising anti-coronavirus effects are seen with different herbal compounds like some diterpenoids, sesquiterpenoids, and three compounds in tea with 3CLpro inhibiting effect of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (SARS-CoV); Hirsutenone, Six cinnamic amides and bavachinin are PLpro inhibitors and Tanshinones are active on both 3CLpro and PLpro. Some flavonoid compounds of Citrus fruits act on Immun-oregulation and target angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 which is used by SARS-COV for entry. Virus helicase is possibly inhibited by two compounds myricetin and scutellarein. CONCLUSION: This review shows that complementary medicine have the potential for new drug discovery against coronavirus. Further research is needed before definitive conclusions can be made concerning the safety and efficacy of the use of these medicinal plants.

INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVE: Despite the importance of machine learning methods application in traditional medicine there is a no systematic literature review and a classification for this field. This is the first comprehensive literature review of the application of data mining methods in traditional medicine. METHOD: We reviewed 5 database between 2000 to 2017 based on the Kitchenham systematic review methodology. 502 articles were identified and reviewed for their relevance to application of machine learning methods in traditional medicine, 42 selected papers were classified and categorized on four dimension; 1) application domain of data mining techniques in traditional medicine; 2) the data mining methods most frequently used in traditional medicine; 3) main strength and limitation of data mining techniques in traditional medicine; 4) the performance evaluation methods in data mining methods in traditional medicine. RESULT: The result obtained showed that main application domain of data mining techniques in traditional medicine was related to syndrome differentiation. Bayesian Networks (BNs), Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) and Support Vector Machines (SVMs) were recognized as being the methods most frequently applied in traditional medicine. Furthermore, each data mining techniques has its own strength and limitations when applied in traditional medicine. Single scaler methods were frequently used for performance evaluation of data mining methods. CONCLUSION: Machine learning methods have become an important research field in traditional medicine. Our research provides information about this methods by examining the related articles.
